Meet Margaret
Decades of Community Leadership
Margaret DeLaRosa is a proven public servant who believes leadership starts with listening, showing up through hard work, and delivering results that last. With deep roots in Glen Ellyn and more than three decades of service in DuPage County, Margaret has earned a reputation as a thoughtful, steady problem-solver who brings people together to get things done.

An Illinois native, Margaret earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from DePaul University and built her career around fiscal responsibility, careful analysis, and collaboration. She and her husband raised their three children in DuPage County, all graduates of the Glenbard school system — a connection that has shaped her lifelong commitment to strong public schools and thriving communities.

Margaret's community involvement runs deep. Her leadership roles include:
- President of the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn
- Parent–teacher organization leadership
- Finance and facilities planning for Glenbard Township High School District 87
- Key roles with Indivisible DuPage as a local Democratic leader and community organizer
In 2015, voters first elected her to the Glenbard District 87 School Board where she served for a decade, earning her post again and again as one of the top vote-getters in a crowded field for four straight elections. As D87 Board President from 2022–2025, she helped guide complex budget decisions, build strong community partnerships, and support strategic investments that improved outcomes for students while respecting taxpayers.

Serving in Springfield
In October 2025, Margaret was appointed to serve as State Representative for Illinois’s 42nd District, bringing her experience in education, fiscal oversight, and community leadership to Springfield. She was sworn in to represent parts of Glen Ellyn, Lisle, Lombard, Wheaton, and Downers Grove, continuing a record of public service grounded in accountability and trust.
Priorities
As State Representative, Margaret is focused on practical solutions that make everyday life more affordable and secure for families:
- Expanding property tax relief for seniors
- Lowering energy costs
- Improving public transit
- Strengthening food and income security
- Advancing responsible community safety and immigration policies that reflect the district’s values
A Leader Who Listens
Known for her steady leadership style and attention to detail, Margaret is respected for working collaboratively, tackling tough issues honestly, and staying responsive to constituents. She believes progress happens when leaders build coalitions, sweat the details, and keep the focus on serving people—not politics.
Margaret DeLaRosa is proud to continue earning the trust of her community and fighting for progress that lasts.
